Resolved Question: What should I do while I'm in Portland?

Me and my friend are visiting another friend in a couple days out in Portland. He's working during the week days so we are looking for things to do during this time. I've been to Portland before, but I'm still not very familiar with the city. We're looking to do some exploring, visit some breweries, maybe hit up some music scenes, and anything else in between. Where are some good spots on the coast to visit from Portland? What are some areas we should check out? We have a car if we need and will probably use the MAX or bus system from Lake Oswego.
